A
Brief HTML Tutorial
A Few Tips on Writing HTML Codes:
The Title shows in the title bar of your Web
Browser window, NOT in the document itself. The
title should be the same as the formal title in
the document whenever such a formal title is indicated.
This also helps people who bookmark your document,
as this is the description given under the bookmark.
The Author tag is used by Search Engines (such
as Lycos, Yahoo!, Magellan, Infoseek, etc.) to
generate an alphabetical Author Index of documents
by this author.
The Contact tag is the email address of the person
who maintains the document.
The Keywords tag is used for keywords not in
the document's body and is separated by either
spaces or commas. Keywords are used to improve
the likelihood of someone using the various search
engines locating your document. Please assign
liberally any keywords that describe the content
of your document that cannot be found in the text.
NOTE: for a search to come out as expected,
you should place a space after the tag and the
equals sign. (KEYWORDS= )

Inserting Images Into Your HTML Document
The correct syntax for inserting images into your
Web Page is: <IMG SRC="filename.xxx">,
where "filename.xxx" is the name of the picture
that you wish to insert. Many graphics can be
found right here on FEN. To view these graphics,
and insert them into your pages, simply reference
the correct path and filename that you wish to
insert. For example, to insert a blue ball into
your Web Page, code the image like this:
<IMG SRC="http://www.fament.com/gengraph/balblue.gif">
The name "gengraph" refers to the library where
the graphic can be found and the name "balblue.gif"
refers to the name of the graphic file itself.
"fament.com" refers to the server where the graphic
is stored (this particular graphic is stored on
Family Entertainment Network, of course!)
To view the Graphics
available to you, please look at the
following URL: http://www.fament.com/graphics/graphics.htm.
You can reference any graphic in these
libraries by using the appropriate Library
Name and Graphic Name.
Backgrounds
and ruled
lines are also available for your
use.
IF YOU ARE NOT A FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK
CUSTOMER, PLEASE SAVE A COPY OF THESE GRAPHICS LOCALLY.
DO NOT LINK BACK TO THESE GRAPHICS PAGES IF YOU
DO NOT STORE YOUR PAGES ON OUR SERVER.
**To save graphics locally, click on the graphic
itself, and then save that file onto your hard
drive. You can also click on the right mouse button
and save the graphics file that way. For Mac users,
hold the mouse button down and you will get a
pop-up screen to follow to save the graphic.
